She shared many of his years in Burma and provides an unusually personal account of their life in the teak forests, Williams’s work with working elephants and the close relationship he developed with them. The book forms an important companion to Williams’s own Elephant Bill, adding domestic and biographical detail to the better-known story of the forester and elephant specialist who later served with the Fourteenth Army during the Burma campaign.
