8vo, orig. cloth, blocked in black and gilt to spine and front boards, blind to rear, all edges gilt; slightly faded to head of spine, rubbed to extremities, front inner hinge cracked and neatly refixed. Vg. British ornithologist, F.C.R. Jourdain's copy with his name to endpaper. Rev. Francis Charles Robert Jourdain (1865-1940) was an amateur ornithologist and oologist. He founded the British Oological Association, which changed its name to the Jourdain Society following his death. He wrote many papers and a number of books on birds, most notably as co-author of Handbook of British Birds (1938-1941).
