Description:
A luxurious production, limited to just 100 copies-this being number 100. This exquisitely illustrated volume explores the history of mulberry trees in Britain, particularly their introduction under King James I, who sought to establish a silk industry. The book offers meticulous botanical descriptions alongside stunning watercolour illustrations of mulberry taxa held in the National Collection of Morus within the gardens of Buckingham Palace. The botanical illustrations, masterfully rendered by Alysia Hunt, were commissioned by Mark Lane, the Royal Gardens Manager, and published in 2012 by the Royal Warrant Holders’ Association to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, as the holder of the National Collection of Morus. Each illustration, is mounted on card, is reproduced at 93% of its original size, capturing the intricate beauty of this royal botanical heritage.
