Description:

La bibliothèque nationale de France gives date of publication as 1898. Prince Henri d'Orléans (1867-1901) was an explorer. In 1897 he visited Abyssinia (now Ethiopia), and wrote several articles for Le Figaro, describing the Italian soldiers being held captive in Ethiopia, during the first First Italo-Ethiopian War, as cowards. Prince Vittorio Emanuele, Count of Turin challenged him to a duel, which became a cause célèbre.

This work is an account of Prince Henri’s journey to meet Ménélick II, who became Emperor of Ethiopia from 1889 to 1913.
