Scarce. The map is on a scale of 1: 1,000,000 and is primarily a vegetation map with supplementary indications of the types of soil occupied by each type of vegetation. It was based on a number of field traverses of Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) with additional information from aerial photographs and travellers' records. The complex pattern of vegetation and soil types is indicated on the maps by the use of thirty-four tones.
The accompanying Memorandum by the British ecologist Colin Graham Trapnell (1907-2004)includes information on soil and vegetation classification of Northern Rhodesia.
This document is considered useul in understanding colonial land management, post-colonial development, and environmental change in Zambia.
