Description:

Scarce. Between 1904 and 1905 Maurice Edmond Charles de Rothschild (1881-1957) both led and financed an important collecting expedition in East Africa, which commenced in Djibouti, then travelled across Eritrea to Ethiopia and Kenya. The zoological specimens collected during the expedition were presented to the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, Paris. The collecting results of the expedition were published in three volumes (two volumes of text and an atlas of plates). Scarce Limited to 400 copies.

Presented here is the second volume only, which contains descriptions of all the Coleoptera, Siphonaptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Supplement to Coleoptera. 483-1041, (2) pp. (accompanying plates were published in an atlas not present here). No. 261 of 400 copies.

Condition

Folio. Orig. card wrappers, partly water stained, front cover detached, spine split, internally clean. Good.
