Text English. A world catalogue of Dolichopodidae, excluding fossil taxa (which are already catalogued by Evenhuis (1994)). The morphology of adults is outlined. The family Dolichopodae is classified into 17 subfamilies (including 2 new subfamilies) with a definition of each subfamily. A cladistic analysis of phylogenetic relationships among subfamilies of Dolichopodidae is presented.
