Condition

Orig blind patterned cloth. Spine faded, small ink spot; some scattered foxing; small piece torn from corner of preface. From the library of Prof. Alexander James Edward Cave, (1900-2001), with his signature in pencil. Cave was a leading British anatomist, Professor of Anatomy, St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, 1946-1967 and President of the Linnean Society 1970-1973. Cave had a wide range of interests, including the study of catholic relics. Letter inserted in which Joseph Bamber, catholic priest at Dodding Green, Skelsmergh, Kendal 1947-1983, presents this copy to Cave.
