The rare illustrated, large paper edition. Vol. 6 (Supplement) written in collaboration with H. Donisthorpe. Nissen ZBI 1415.

William Weekes Fowler (1849-1923) was a British clergyman, naturalist, author, and collector.

Gilbert J Arrow wrote in his obituary of Fowler (Ent., 1923, p. 170 ) that "Entomology has reason for gratitude to him for much useful spadework, and, to all who study British Beetles, his principal achievement, the Coleoptera of the British Islands, is the indispensable starting-point for any fresh advance, and is not likely soon to be superseded'.

Horace St.John Donisthorpe (1870 –1951) who was co-author of the supplementary volume 6, was a myrmecologist and coleopterist, one of the greatest of British ant experts.
