Some observations of endemic and endangered dragonflies (Odonata) from the Asir Mountains, Saudi Arabia
By: THOMAS SCHNEIDER, DIETMAR IKEMEYER & ANDY VIERSTRAETE
Page: 265–280
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
During two short visits to southwestern Saudi Arabia in January and May 2024 observations were made on the endemic and endangered Arabian Odonata species Pseudagrion arabicum Waterston and Pinheyschna yemenensis (Waterston). Pseudagrion arabicum females were polychromatic with three adult colour forms; these are described here for the first time. The behaviour of Pinheyschna yemenensis adults, emergence and exuviae frequency on a brook in the Asir Mountains ca 2,700m a.s.l. are reported. Morphometric data from the two Arabian endemics and Anax speratus Hagen are provided. In total, 29 species were recorded from the Asir Mountains, including Tramea limbata (Desjardins) reported for the first time from Saudi Arabia.
Keys to the genera and subgenera of the bee subfamily Euryglossinae (Hymenoptera: Colletidae)
By: MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 281–298
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Revised keys are presented to the genera and subgenera of the Australian bee subfamily Euryglossinae (Colletidae). These are meant to accommodate changes in the classification of the subfamily, with the following new taxa established: Augohesma gen. n., Austriperditilla gen. n., Chlorohesma subgen. n. (in Callohesma Michener), Euthyhesma subgen. n. (in Callohesma Michener), Oxyhesma subgen. n. (in Callohesma Michener), and Zethohesma gen. n. Checklists are also provided of currently recognized species in the subfamily, with two replacement names appended as Euryglossina (Quasihesma) lamellata nom. n. and Euryglossina (Quasihesma) cairnsensis nom. n.
Rapala suleymani sp. n., (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) a new thecline butterfly species from west-central Turkey (Republic of Türkiye), with observations on its ecology
By: W. JOHN TENNENT, ONAT BASBAY & EDDIE JOHN
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Earlier in 2025 we reported the remarkable presence of a new thecline lycaenid butterfly, ‘Atara (= Rapala) arata (Bremer, 1881)’ in west-central Turkey (Republic of Türkiye) in late May and early June 2024. Although several specimens were seen in that period, only one worn and damaged male specimen was secured, on 4 June. The habitat was visited again in April 2025, when several fresh specimens were collected, including a pair in copula. The recently raised genus ‘Atara’ Zhdanko, 1996, split from Rapala Moore, 1881, appears not to have been widely accepted in the specialist literature. As a result, we provisionally return to Rapala in describing and illustrating Rapala suleymani sp. n. Detailed observations on the ecology of this butterfly are presented.
A new Chilean species of the bee genus Anthophora Latreille (Hymenoptera: Apidae)
By: MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 311–316
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Three species of the diverse bee genus Anthophora Latreille have been known to occur in Chile: Anthophora (Mystacanthophora) arequipensis Brèthes, A. (M.) incerta Spinola, and A. (M.) paranensis Holmberg. A fourth species is here described and figured from two distinctive females from north-central Chile. Anthophora (M.) brunneipecten sp. n. is most easily confused with the darker females of A. arequipensis (sensu the polymorphic concept of Brooks, noting, however, that this is likely several distinct species with synonyms needing resurrection, most notably A. escomeli Brèthes) but can be distinguished by the largely dark fuscous to dark brown setae of the head (rather than largely white in A. arequipensis) and the presence of a clypeal pecten (absent in A. arequipensis), among other differences.
Jumping plant-lice (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) new to Madeira and Porto Santo Islands
By: ANTÓNIO FRANQUINHO AGUIAR & DÉLIA CRAVO
Page: 317–325
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Following a recurring pattern in recent years regarding the continued introduction of exotic species, of which hemipterans are a numerous and important group, the authors report the discovery of five newly introduced species of psyllids in the island of Madeira: Calophya schini Tuthill, Acizzia acaciaebaileyanae (Froggatt), A. jamatonica (Kuwayama), Heteropsylla cubana Crawford, and Bactericera tremblayi (Wagner).

By: NICK J. RIDDIFORD & ELIZABETH A. RIDDIFORD
Page: 326–330
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A provisional list of the caddis species known to occur on Fair Isle, Shetland, UK (59°32'N 01°38'W) is presented and comparisons made with those found on St Kilda, another island distant from mainland Britain.
