Adult feeding in butterflies (Papilionoidea): accessing the inaccessible and obtaining the unobtainable

Synopsis:
Aglais io and Gonepteryx rhamni have been observed feeding on Anemone nemorosa and a Daffodil cultivar, in the first case a flower long considered to lack nectar; in the second, a flower with a narrow and deep corolla. These observations are considered in the wider context of resource use in butterfly species that hibernate as adults.

Synopsis:
The taxonomic status of the taxon described as Parnassius bremeri amgunensis Sheljuzhko, 1928, is revised; considered by some authors to be a valid species, this taxon is here placed as a subspecies of P. bremeri Bremer, 1864, as originally described; it might even be a synonym. A lectotype of P. bremeri Bremer, 1864, is here designated.

Synopsis:
A review of the species of the family Pterophoridae inhabiting Tajikistan is provided. Two species are newly described: Platyptilia avicennai sp. nov. and Platyptilia tajikistana sp. nov. Procapperia tadzhica Zagulajev, 2002, is newly synonymised under Capperia salanga Arenberger, 1995. Forty-eight species in 18 genera are listed. Of these, eighteen are recorded from Tajikistan for the first time and are denoted with an asterisk.

Synopsis:
An account is given of the discovery of the larva of Scythris potentillella (Zeller, 1847) at five localities in England. Hitherto, the larva had not been found in the British Isles. Descriptions and photographs are provided of the larva and cocoon, as well as several adults, because of variation in the forewing markings. The history of the species in the British Isles is set out as well as a review of the biology as known to date.

Eighteen species of Cossidae representing 13 genera are reported for Nepal. Six species, Rapdalus pardicolor (Moore, 1876), Azygophleps scalaris (Fabricius, 1775), Roerichiora stigmaticus (Moore, 1879), Phragmataecia minor Moore, 1879, Phragmataecia gummata Swinhoe, 1892, and Phragmacossia dudgeoni (Arora, 1974), are new country records. A brief biogegraphical overview of the Cossidae of Nepal is given.
