8vo, orig. brown cloth with decorative blind-stamped border to both boards, slight rubbing to extremities, minor bump to spine and one corner. Inscribed 'with the compliments of the author to Miss Cooper of Markree'. Markree Castle, in Collooney, County Sligo, Ireland is the ancestral seat of the Cooper family. Some ink annotations to text, several neatly erased. Later owner's bookplate to endpaper.
