Jones, and E. Megargee, photogravure plates (many with two images) from photographs by Beebe and others, distribution maps printed in red and black by Stanford's. Plates with captioned tissue guards.

Beebe based his text on his observations made during expeditions through Asia, and also on his study of museum collections around the world.
