Mullens & Swann p. 225. Florence Anna Fulcher (1861-1928) noted in the introduction her indebtedness to other works in preparing the book, but states 'the chapters are, for the most part, sketches taken from life during my wanderings in Bird-Land'. A review of this work in Nature1897 states 'In this dainty volume the characteristics and habits of birds, and the curiosities of bird-land, are pleasingly described: The book is not an exhaustive treatise, but a collection of word-pictures drawn by the author in various parts of the British Isles.'
