British Landscape and Coast Scenery (Vere Foster's Advanced Water-Colour Series)

Description:

Eight facsimiles of original water-colour drawings, numerous pencil outlines, and many illustrations after J.M.W. Turner, R.A. with ample instructions for drawing and painting, and descriptive essay on each subject. Each landscape scene is presented as an attractive mounted colour plate by Edward Duncan, and a corresponding outline drawing, together with instructions for copying the picture. Edward Duncan was a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-colours.

Condition

Small 4to (262x218mm), orig. dec. cloth, rubbed with minor wear to extremities; front inner hinge cracked but firm. A little light foxing to endpapers and to the mount for one plate (plate itself clean). Prize bookplate to front endpaper dated 1891; prize recipient's signature to endpaper. Generally a well preserved example.
