2 parts [Parts I Land Birds & Part II Water Birds]. Second edition of A Manual of British Ornithology (1840-1842), in MacGillivray's 'Manuals of Natural History' series. Tabular Index to both volumes bound at the front of Vol. I (noted as p. v/vi in the Contents) appears to be the final leaf from signature R of Vol. II (actually paginated 271-272). The half-title and title to Vol. II are omitted, and an 'Appendix of Recently Observed Species' follows the main text to Vol. II (with a disconinuity in pagination).

Condition
2 parts bound together, small 8vo, orig. green cloth, dec. blind-stamped border to both boards, spine faded, gt title to spine. Gatherings mostly unopened. Pencil sketches to verso of half title and recto of rear endpaper, otherwise clean. Small bookseller's blind stamp to endpaper. Very good.
