Captain Wilfrid Barham. The Buffs, East Kent Regiment: A centenary of his war: selected extracts from his war diary. 1914-1915
- Publisher : Debinair Publishing
- Illustrations : col + b/w photos
Description:
A substantial selection from the wartime diary of Wilfrid Saxby Barham (1894-1915), a remarkably young officer of The Buffs who served with the 1st Battalion on the Western Front and rose to command a company before his death from wounds received near Ypres in October 1915. The diary provides a contemporary personal account of an officer's experiences during the first year of the war. The complete diary was originally edited by his father, Colonel Arthur Saxby Barham, and privately printed in 1918 in a scarce family memorial volume. This centenary edition, prepared by his great-nephew Edward Barham of Hole Park, presents selected extracts together with illustrative material.
