Text German. Paul Heinrich Ritter von Groth (1843-1927) was a German mineralogist. In 1872 he was appointed Professor of mineralogy at Strasbourg and in 1883, Professor of mineralogy and curator of minerals at the Deutsches Museum, Munich. This monumental five-volume work was described in Nature 1907 as 'an epoch in the history of crystallography...The work will include practically the whole of our crystallographic knowledge concerning every crystallised substance yet described'.
