8vo, orig. cloth, gt, rubbed, slightly worn; joints cracked but firm, endpapers browned, front endpaper detached and frayed to edges. Withdrawn from the Natural History Museum Library, a few ink stamps, shelf label to spine. Good. Formerly from the Royal Engineers Library, with their gilt emblem stamped to the front board and ink stamp to title page, and a typed letter dated 1946, from the librarian to H.A. Toombs, Dept. of Geology, British Museum, confirming that the book had been 'eliminated' from their library, with others of the Hakluyt Society series, in 1935. Ownership stamp of Errol I. White, Dept. of Geology, British Museum (Natural History). White (1901-1985), was a British geologist and Fellow of the Royal Society, president of the Ray Society (1956-1959) and of the Linnean Society (1964-1967).
