First edition, undated (British Library states 1928 for 4to edition - this is the undated small 8vo edition). Illustrated by Barbara Briggs, F.Z.S. Eleanor E. Helme (1887-1967) was an accomplished golfer, member of the English 1911-1920 Women's international golf teams, and member of the Association of Golf Writers (AGW). She also wrote a series of natural history books for younger readers, including the 'Feathered Friends' series.

Condition

Sm. 8vo (162x118mm), orig. green cloth, blindstamped vignette of a pheasant in flight to front board, gt. Some spotting to edges of text block, Ex-lib, school libraries, County Council of Durham. Good in worn d/w (edges worn, tear to front panel and head of spine neatly repaired).
