Text English. Describes and illustrates bryozoans collected from the coast of Florida by Count Louis François de Pourtalès (1824-1880), a former student and assistant of Louis Agassiz, during the expedition of the United States 'Coast Survey', in 1867-1869. The Swedish bryozoologist, Fredrik (Frits) Adam Smitt (1839-1904), notes in the introduction 'In doing this, I have felt the greatest interest in finding well-known Scandinavian forms living there among tropical and antarctical'.
