Orig. cloth, gilt worn, rear joint split; front hinge cracked and loose. One index leaf detached with marginal tears. Fair. Inscription to endpaper from Prof. George Stanley Nelson (1923-2009) to Prof Mike W. Service. Service stated in an obituary published in the Annals of Tropical Medicine & Parasitology Vol. 103, that ‘Nelson was one of the great medical parasitologists of the 20th century’.

Loosely inserted is a letter to Nelson dated 1947, from the Secretary-Superintendent of Keighley & District Victoria Hospital, concerning the return of this book and the loss of Nelson’s ‘ plus-four stockings.’
