Description:
This Swedish scientific circumnavigation included the eastern coasts of South and Central America, the Pacific, including the Galapagos and Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, China and the Moluccan Islands. The scientific reports consisted of three volumes, of which this part on insects is by far the largest. Approx. 1500 species are described, the majority of them new to science. C.H. Holmgren (Hymenoptera, pp. 391-442, 1 plate); C.G. Thomson (Diptera, pp. 443-614, 1 plate). Dates of publication on the printed wrapper are 1858-1910, which is the range for the complete scientific report.
