Description:

First edition. An account of the author's expeditions around Lake Tana and the source of the Blue Nile, in Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) during his time as British consul for north-west Ethiopia between 1925 and 1934. Major Robert E. Cheesman (1878-1962) was an English military officer, explorer, ornithologist and author. He was the brother of Evelyn Cheesman (1881-1969), entomologist, author and traveller.

Condition

8vo, orig. green cloth (spine slightly faded), gilt vignette to front board, gilt title to spine, top edge tinted green. Ownership inscription and blind stamp to half-title. Vg.
