An account of the author's expeditions around Lake Tana and the source of the Blue Nile, in Abyssinia (now Ethiopia) during his time as British consul for north-west Ethiopia between 1925 and 1934. Major Robert E. Cheesman (1878-1962) was an English military officer, explorer, ornithologist and author. He was the brother of Evelyn Cheesman (1881-1969), entomologist, author and traveller.
