Text Chinese, scientific names in Latin. A comprehensive systematic treatment of the butterflies (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea) of the Nanling Mountains, southern China, a region of exceptional biodiversity extending across Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces.

The work documents 553 species in 228 genera and 11 families. Identification keys to genera and species are provided, together with diagnostic morphological characters and geographical distributions. Species accounts include original descriptions and bibliographical references, with information on distinguishing characteristics and distribution. Most species are illustrated with colour photographs of adults, comprising a total of 1,025 illustrations on 72 colour plates. An important contribution to the taxonomy, identification and biogeography of the butterfly fauna of southern China, and a valuable reference for lepidopterists, taxonomists and biodiversity researchers.
