Charming woodcut illustrations to text. This is the second of a five-volume set of natural histories for young people (the others being Mammalia, Reptiles, Fishes and Mollusca). Scarce.

Condition

Sm. 8vo (170x100mm), orig. blue cloth, vertical rib, blind ornamental frame within ruled border to both boards; spine with four double and one single blind bands; spine title gilt GOSSE'S/NATURAL/HISTORY/BIRDS. Minor wear to extremities; a few nicks to spine ends. Endpapers yellow, but with front free endpaper removed. Owner's name in ink and some pencil notes to front pastedown. Good.
