This book focuses on the adult stage of the ‘neuropteroids’.

More specifically, the Plecoptera (stoneflies), the super-order Neuropterida (Neuroptera, Megaloptera, Rhaphidioptera), Megaloptera, Trichoptera (caddisflies), and Mecoptera (scorpionflies) are presented.

Approximately a thousand species are meticulously illustrated and described, including details of their biology and the habitats they occupy. Particular emphasis is placed on orders with aquatic larvae. In certain cases, illustrations of the genitalia for the relevant species are provided.
