With charming illustrations by Giacomelli, engraved by F. Meaulle. Hector Giacomelli (1822-1904) was a French artist and illustrator, best known for his paintings of birds. He worked with Gustave Doré, and contributed to Le Monde illustré, Le Magasin pittoresque and L'Illustration.
Condition
Large 4to (388x300mm), orig. cloth, elaborately blocked in gilt and black to front board and spine, blind stamped to rear, bevelled boards, all edges gilt. Minor perforation to top of spine; inner hinges cracked but firm. Very good.
