First UK edition. Wendell Philips (1921-1975) was an American archaeologist who undertook several expeditions and excavations in Southern Arabia, in current day Yemen, to investigate the ancient cities of Timna (capital of the kingdom of Qataban) and Marib (capital of the land of Sheba).
