First edition. Hugh Brandon-Cox (1917-2003) was a British broadcaster, author, and artist. He spent much of his life in northern Scandinavia, where he produced a number of documentaries and books on his travels. He later moved to Norfolk, where he dedicated the rest of his life to his art. Softly Wakes the Dawn was his last work, an illustrated anthology of extracts from his Countryman's Notes columns (Suffolk Norfolk Life Magazine).
