With original omissions restored. Edited with Appendix and Notes by his grand-daughter. Dust jacket states 'Freeman No. 1497. Darwin s autobiography was first published in 1887, five years after his death. Since it was written primarily for his own children, many passages and references to personalities were omitted for family reasons. This version, edited by his granddaughter, Nora Barlow, is an accurate transcription from the original manuscript, with earlier omissions restored, and is the first complete edition to appear in print'.

Good in worn d/w. Some ink annotations to rear flyleaf. From the library of Keith Hyatt (d. 2021), acarologist at the Natural History Museum, London, and prominent member of the London Natural History Society, with his name to the front pastedown.
