First edition. Complete in three volumes. Vol. III, published 18 years after Vol. II, was continued by Thomas Southwell after Henry Stevenson's death, and includes a Memoir and portrait of Stevenson. Originally planned in two volumes, but an additional third volume was necessitated by the 'greatly incresed amount of information received since the plan of this work has been more generally known' - the third volume contains the Anatidae. Extremeley scarce as a complete three-volume set. Hand coloured lithographs, Pallas's Sandgrouse, Capped Petrel, Paget's Pochard (by J. Wolf) and Great Bustard, Feathers of the Wall Creeper (by J. Smit). Errata slips to Vols I + II.

Mullens & Swann, p. 561.

3 vols, 8vo, orig. green cloth, gt title to spines, dec. blind-stamped panels to boards. Occasional foxing. A fine set.
