Founded in 1863 in Höchst near Frankfurt by Carl Meister, Eugen Lucius, and Ludwig Brüning, the company Farbwerke vorm. Meister Lucius & Brüning was internationally renowned for its pioneering work in the synthesis of aniline dyes (Coal tar colours), which revolutionised the textile industry. This volume is complete with over 600 colour swatches. It served both as a marketing tool and a practical guide for textile professionals of the era, showing precise effects of dyes under varied conditions and mordants.
