This limited edition, edited by John Major, with eight etchings by Damman on Japon Vellum, is printed upon paper specially made for this edition.

Condition

8vo, orig. green cloth, gilt title and decoration to front board and spine, teg, other edges uncut. Plates with tissue guards. Vg. A bright and clean copy with an interesting provenance. Neatly inscribed to the 'Right Worshipful the Mayor of Coventry (Mr Alderman Sidney Stringer, J.P.)' from the Mayor's Secretary, N. Storer, 1939, 'In remembrance of ouor happy association during a most successful year of Office'. Sidney Stringer (1889-1969) was a prominent Labour councillor and leader in Coventry from 1938 to 1967, serving as Mayor in 1938. He played a significant role in the rebuilding of Coventry after World War II.
