This volume of The English Illustrated Magazine includes the first appearance of 'Walks in the Wheatfields' by Richard Jefferies (1848-1887, English nature writer); printed in two parts: Pt I (Vol IV, pt 46: 663-672 (July 1887)) & Pt II (pt 47: 707-716 (August 1887)), illustrated by P. Macnab & Dewey Bates (later collected in full, but not illustrated, by Mrs Jefferies in Field and Hedgerow (1889)).
