An early monograph on the parasitic Protozoa of the Indian subcontinent, and the second of Bihari Lal Bhatia's two major contributions to the Fauna of British India. Published in 1938, it provides a comprehensive systematic treatment of the organisms then grouped as Sporozoa, including gregarines, coccidia and blood parasites, with accounts of their morphology, life histories, hosts and distribution. Bihari Lal Bhatia (1884-1941), an important Indian protozoologist, made major contributions to the establishment of protozoan taxonomy in India.
