8vo, orig. green embossed cloth, neatly rebacked preserving the original spine, inner hinges neatly reinforced, some minor wear to corners. One folding map with tears along several folds, but complete. Vg. Several previous owners' names to endpaper and half-title.

Also included are a second set of the maps and plates (17 plates (some folding), 2 folding colour maps) from the French edition, 'Geologie et Volcans Eteints du Centre de la France, Cartes & Planches. Traduit de l'Anglais sur la deuxieme edition par Ed. Vimont, 1864', with 'Explication des Cartes et Planches' (pp xvi) loosely contained in later marbled paper covers, with original printed title pasted to front wrapper.
