Description:
First edition. Rare. Pt I - History of Glanville's Wootton; Pt II - Zoology; Pt III - Botany. Part I provides a short history and archaeology of the Parish of Glanville's Wootton, Dorset, with photographs of the parish church and manor house. Parts II & III provide extensive annotated lists of the recorded fauna and flora, being particularly strong on entomology. Charles William Dale (1851/2-1906) was a British entomologist, best known for his interest in Lepidoptera and Diptera. Dale spent most of his life at the Manor House at Glanville's Wootton, which he inherited from his father, and carried out much of his collecting there, and in the surrounding areas of the county.
