John William Carr (1859-1932), was Professor of Biology at University College, Nottingham. This work attempted to record the known invertebrate fauna of Nottinghamshire across a remarkably broad range of groups, including molluscs, worms, arachnids and insects. Carr drew on many years of field records contributed by members of the Nottingham Naturalists’ Society and other local collectors.
