First edition. 46 charming engraved plates by Joseph Wolf (1820-1899) and Friedrich Specht (1839-1909). Dr Andrew Wilson (1852-1912) was a Scottish zoologist and author. He was a lecturer on zoology and comparative anatomy at Edinbough University.

Condition
4to (284x218mm), orig. dec. cloth (design blocked in black, gilt and white to front board and spine, blind-stamped decorative frame to rear), bevelled boards, some wear to corners and spine ends, all edges gilt, inner hinges cracked but firm, light foxing at beginning and end. Neat contemporary gift inscription to endpaper. Good.
