Box set, includes a book and two long-playing records (33 r.p.m.), which feature the songs and calls of 194 species. Box label, record sleeves and bookjacket designs by Robert Gillmor. A third of the recordings are by the recording pioneer Ludwig Koch, many by Eric Simms in collaboration with the BBC sound-engineer G.F. Wade and others.
