Aculeata by Frederick Smith; Oxyura by T.A. Marshall.

Condition

2 parts bound in 1, 8vo, cont. half leather, marbled boards, rubbed, scuffed to corners. Book-plate of Linley Blathwayt. Interleaved copy with some neat annotations. Col. Linley Blathwayt (1839-1919) served in the British Indian army for many years. On retirement in 1880 he settled at Eagle House, Batheaston and took up scientific and natural history interests. He was the president of the British Microscopical Society and a Fellow of the Entomological Society. He supported women's suffrage and Eagle house became a refuge for suffragettes.
