The Solomon Islands, an archipelago of more than a thousand islands, stretches over 1000 miles in the south Pacific, and contains a large percentage of endemic butterflies. This book presents the first account of the 346 butterfly species recorded from the islands, together with a wealth of previously unpublished data on distribution and systematics. More than 1100 specimens (including types) are illustrated life-sized and in colour, with many species and subspecies (including Papilio and Graphium) never illustrated before.

Includes for each species/race: description, flight/habitat, host-plants, distribution and taxonomic notes.
