Description:
Third impression of Thomas Nelson's illustrated edition (first published 1888). Taken from Darwin's journals while voyaging on the H.M.S. Beagle, these notes form a background for ideas he would later develop in On the Origin of Species, while also serving as an excellent travel narrative of his voyage around South America, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as the famous survey of the Galapagos Islands.
