Rare. 'In the following pages I have endeavoured to give the result of a personal investigation of the Fauna and Flora of the Azores, made during a four months' visit to the archipelago. […] The animal and vegetable life existing in a group of islands like the Azores, separated by a wide expanse of deep sea from any other land, posses a special interest. […] No complete biological account of any island or group of islands exist at the present time, so far as I am aware, in a connected form.' - Preface. Condition

8vo, orig. red cloth, blind-stamped borders and decorative corners to boards; spine faded and worn, chipped to head, with 3cm split to top of rear joint with a tear extending across width of backstrip. Owners' names to endpaper; some pages unopened. Good.
