Description:

Foreword by Elizabeth Bowen. This book recounts the life of Olive Margaret Willis (1877-1964), an English educationist and headmistress who founded Downe House School in 1907 at the former home of Charles Darwin (which he knew as Down House). The school remained at the property until 1922, when it relocated to The Cloisters in Cold Ash, Berkshire. The book will be of particular interest to readers interested in the history of Darwin’s home.
