Description:

Volumes 1-16 cover 1821-1868. Volume 16 consists of 2 parts. A further 7 volumes have been published and can be supplied new. Further volumes are in preparation. Letter-writing was of crucial importance to Darwin's work, not only because his poor health isolated him from direct personal communication with his scientific colleagues but also because the nature of his investigations required communication with naturalists in many fields and in all quarters of the globe. Thus the letters are a mine of information about the work in progress of a creative genius who produced an intellectual revolution.

Condition

16 vols in 17, cloth, all in d/w's, mostly Vg, some as new in original cellophane wrappers.
