Translated by Ellen E. Frewer. Facsimile reprint of the first edition (1873). Georg Schweinfurth (1836-1925) was a Latvian-born German naturalist who gained great distinction by his travels and discoveries in East Central Africa. From 1863 to 1866 he explored Egypt and the Sudan; upon his return to Berlin, he received a grant to undertake a botanical exploration of Central Africa.

2 vols, 8vo, orig. buckram, gt, small bump to one corner, one spine slightly faded. From the library of Prof. J. Green (1928-2016) with his name to endpapers. A very good set.
