8vo, orig. publisher's blue, cloth, gt, teg, some slight wear to head of spine, inner hinges cracked but firm. Several relevant short papers tipped in. From the library of K.G.V. Smith (1929-2017), leading British dipterist at the Natural History Museum, London, and editor of the Entomologist’s Monthly Magazine, with his name to endpaper. Book-plate of British ornithologist T.A. Coward (1867-1933) - best-known among his many works is 'Birds of the British Isles and their Eggs', in three volumes, first published in 1919. Coward is acknowledged by Lucas in the Preface (among many others) for providing 'lists of localities or insects for inspection to assist ... in the complation of the paragraphs on British distribution'. Also with ownership signature of Harry Britten (1870-1954), Keeper of Entomology of the Manchester Museum.
